Where have all the flowers gone?

Somewhere along the way, wemo went missing.
A rainy spring turned into a bloody hot premature summer, 35°C / 95F the last few days, wemo nowhere around, no permission to upload anything for the rest of the Blog-team.
On strike?
He's been around somewhere, photographs where found around his desktop.
Any problems with practical life?

Kunst am Bau?

Elegance, a certain purity …

our new railway bridge across Salzach river … check Halle 1 architects for more of this and other works; they are currently the most 'present' exponents of modern building in Salzburg.

But if you look at all this, isn't there something missing? Something extra, something one would like to glue to that pure concrete?

You got it: Kunst am Bau!

It does not necessarily have to look like a combination of Nazi and bad socialist art, but all too often it does. Here it's been slightly smoothed over …

Allegories of the railway system, the Austrian state, Salzburg province, and Salzburg city, all those who paid for it; I'm not giving details of this esthetic shame ;–).

It ain't over when it's over

I started this blog with a few posts on a Nazi eagle on a motorway bridge near Salzburg, with just the swastika taken out after the end of the Nazi regime, and its late disappearance.
A comment by mistereggz followed, likening the disappearance of remains to the dying of witnesses and survivors, and to the fading away of memory as a whole.
Here we go … It may have been one of those people who wants the Nazis back, or the formerly oft-cited 'strong man to bring back some order to those degenerate democracies' in Europe. It won't go away as it seems; bringing back the hurt to the sensible and sensitive ones. And it reminds us that dark history has not ended with the liberation from the Nazis.

Winter road

Lucky moment: an unusually empty Pinzgauer Bundesstraße on the way to a pickup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, and a dramatic sky, time for a photograph while driving …
